Biography Of Sylvia Kristel:
Sylvia Kristel was born in the Dutch city of Utrecht on September 28, 1952. Emmanuelle (1974), directed by Just Jaeckin, catapulted her to international prominence in the early 1970s. Then she appeared in two more sequels, both of which she also starred in.
Her filmography includes a large range of European films, including Julia (1974), in which she played the major role. She made her Hollywood debut in 1979, starring in the film The Concorde… Airport ’79 (1979) for producer Jennings Lang, who also cast her in the comedy The Nude Bomb (1980). This was all a build-up to Kristel’s most successful picture, Private Lessons (1981), in which she played the housekeeper who introduces 15-year-old Eric Brown to the pleasures of sex. The picture grossed more than $50 million globally.
The Dutch actress has settled in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where she speaks four languages (Dutch, English, Italian, and French). Sylvia Kristel died of cancer in her sleep on October 18, 2012, at the age of 60.
